....
I got TheBoy's aux belt off and back on again with plenum and multirams in place. :y .....

I recently managed to remove mine with everything in place. But had to admit defeat putting the new one on, I ended up with a cat's cradle of fan belt, & took the bag pipes off before I blew a gasket.  ;D

Admittedly it's easier if you're putting the same one back on.  ;D

Kevin
Ah! That's easy  ;D. I thought you meant removing to replace the belt.   :y
tis indeed easy, re greased my tensioner pulley, removed nothing bar the belt and pulley itself.

Not borewash, is intermittant, so not big ends, possibly a lifter

A lifter would be very obvious from under the bonnet though.  :-/

Big ends have a noise of their own, you can tell, that low rumbling noise. In my experience they go just has you hit the red-line when in 4th gear with overdrive on, that was in a Humber Sceptre many years ago, easy to fix though..... :y
iirc Triumph Spitfires were an easy engine to knock them out on...... :D :D :D
I have never heard of a modern car needing the big ends doing... ::) ::) ::)

Hope you get it sorted before you need to tow your caravan..... :y
