broke down fault code p1700

hi all,broke down in lakes had to call aa his code reader said coming up with code p1700+,he didnt know what it was but his tech guy he phoned said maf sensor,anyone know for sure what this code is,car lost power and kept missing with caravan on could only get about 30/40mph,anyone help.thanks. :'(

1700 isn't MAF.

P1700 - CAN SVS REQUIREMENT

Connected to the gearbox IIRC.

No it wouldn't normally cause a missfire. CAN svs requirement is normally read as 'Service me soon' by Vx and can generally be ignored. As for the missfire is it present all the time? Just under load? or just at idle?

You need to get the full list of coes read, if you know that 1700 was the only code then I'd start by checking the plugwells and dispack rubbers for contaminants (oil, water etc.) or splits.

EDIT: Where are you out of interest?

it seems to missfire more when you put it under load,it tics over fine with only the occasional mis,once its up to say 60mph it seems ok but if you hit a hill it starts missing and looses speed

Definately check the plug wells and dispack boots then, sounds like you have an escaping spark.
