Rear Brake Pads/Discs
« on: 07 June 2010, 17:45:44 »

I recently got some GM rear brake pads on a well known auction site .
They are part number 9193476 which i now understand means they are heavy duty pads .
Does this matter ?  I'm planning on doing the discs as well at the time so is there any preference on disc make as i see rear discs arn't on trade club.
I have looked at the guide on rear disc service , however in my box there are 2 metal shims so where do these fit.. ie shim to piston and also which way do the pins go through or does it matter ?
Pins have a collar below the "head"
I realise i will probly find out these questions when i come to do the job but i like to have no suprises  ;D
Thanks  :y

Says who?  ;)  ;)  ;)

Omega Part Number Retail Price Normal Trade Trade Club
Brake discs/drums, rear
Solid discs/drums to '00                               90444513 £94.00 £79.96 £65.81

Ventilated discs/drums from '01                              93182287 £94.00 £80.15 £68.05

The pins go from the inside of the caliper, you can't fit them wrong. Removal requires a pin punch around 1/8" dia, you knock the pins through from the outer side. Not sure about the shims if there are only 2, cos there's 2 pistons per caliper, so one piston would lose out where ever you fitted them  ;)

They locate under the pins & press on top of the pads to stop them rattling about in th caliper.  :y :y
