Elite Engine Management Issues
« on: 19 June 2010, 22:40:38 »

The Elite new cats and exhaust is now fitted. New Lambdas. (not copies).

The engine management light is on. Solidly.

I have plugged in the ELM 327. It says it connects, however reports EML staus as OFF (when it's clearly not) and says there are no DTCs.

My little Sealey reader, which is usually excellent - says it has connected to the vehicle, however also says there are no codes present.

When I paperclip, I get a massive number of codes - about 6.

I need to reset them, and start from a level playing field... but all the devices say there are no codes to clear.

Car runs great in itself, apart from a very slightly high idle. I wanted to check out CTS on live data, but no joy seeing live data.

Any ideas why I can't read/reset the codes?

I'll have to double check in the morning mate, I couldn't remember them all :D

Too many codes to be related to one fault though I'd have thought...

Just wondering if some are in the gearbox or something, i know some code readers cannot clear all codes  :-/

Sounds like trip to Brackley for real tech2 and a Curry  :y

This really is crazy

This morning, I disconnected the ECU, re-connected it.

Ran the car for around 10 mins - EML was off - and then came back on.

All readers are saying no codes stored, despite EML being constantly on!

Any ideas? Things like earths, battery voltage etc all seem OK...

Nope - I checked that when I fitted them  :-/

Even so - I'd have thought the reader would still display the relevent codes?

I am getting load of codes when I paperclip - crank sensor, maf, ICV - yet engine is running fine - and the code reader keeps saying "no codes stored!"

I do wonder whether actually, my sealey reader, and ELM 327 are actually not compatible?

I have Kevins elm, works fine with the original disc, wait, if yours is non dbw it won't be obd2. If paperclip works def  not, it's not obd2. Pedal test IS obd2.

That will be why then. ;D

Yes please!!

Any chance of popping over, over the next couple of evenings? ;)

(Plus, you'll get to meet the person who did the cambelt/service on your Elite ;D ) :y

Chris - thanks mate - although, I thought even if non-ODB2, usually basic functions such as code reading tend to work, as per tech2?

think you've just proved,  obd2 only readers wont read the non obd codes, such as those from the paperclip test, compare those to the pedal trick test and you'll see rhe codes are differant. Differant protocol. But tech2 by nature must do both.
