Does anyone know what Vauxhall used as the preferred standard factory fit tyre for the Omega, and did it change over the life of the production run of the Omega?

Just curious, more than anything.

Both my current (2001) and previous (1997) Omega came with facotry-fitted Michelins. So it would seem that Michelin was a popular choice for Vx.

Having said that, car manufacturers usually make a point of buying tyres from several suppliers (unless these are sports cars with specially developed tyres etc) in order not to be held to ranson by one supplier, so I am certain that new Omegas were fitted with a wide range of tyre makes.

My 98 Elite has what looks like an original unused Michelin as spare.   (Don't really want to think about what condition a 10 year old tyre will be in should I need to use it..)

In Switzerland standard tyres were Michelin too. But if you also ordered a winter set it was most likely to be Continental. Practically all Opels I have seen on winter tyres use Continentals.

Spare on my 99 is a a Michelin

My 2003 facelift has a Firestone fuel saver spare (205/65/15 - steel) and was fitted with Pirelli P7s on the road wheels from new (225/55/16 Alloy).  Go figure.

I've fitted Falken FK452s as I don't like the tramlining with the P7s, other than that the P7s seem very good, lots of grip wet or dry, not noisy and good wear as well (two sets, have covered 50,000 miles now and rears still have 2.5mm tread).  So far (5000 miles) the Falkens are every bit as good but without the tramlining of the P7's.
