Its an easy upgrade and has been covered before.....just fit  stalk with the dial and change the relay under the bonnet.

Note, my facelift Cdx has the dial......

Yours is a fairly early facelift isn't it?  I think the rain sensors came in right towards end of production

I've checked behind the mirror, nothing obvious from either inside or outside, that looks like rain sensor. :(

Check sales lit' for 2003. (mine is a march 03) and it mentions rain sensor pack on Elites only. :(

Could it be that the CDX estate stalk cant take everything, as mentioned previously the estate also has rear wipe on it.

But then if that was the case, you would think it more likely to have rain sensors?

Maybe you should do a poll and see who's got what on which year car in terms of intermittent control, rain sensors etc. May help identify if it's "normal" not to have it.

I must admit that - if I've read all this correctly - I'm very surprised that some later CDX's have no method a varying the speed of the intermittent wipe. It's almost unheard of on bigger cars these days.

I can confirm that my facelift 2001 CD has the dial control on the stalk. Probably doesn't help though! [smiley=smiley.gif]

So did someone say there was a post on how to convert a plain intermitant wipe into a variable or rain sensor version?

Ummm well no....but its as easy as just changing the stalk for a variable intermittant wipe.....if it doesnt work then more than likely you will have to change the relay in engine compartment as well.

Dunno about rain sensitve option tho  :(

Should I start a topic in the help or ICE section, asking for the way to convert? Surpose I should have posted there first.

But thought it was an easy question to be answered.

I dont now how to start a poll :-[

Its funny, this should happen today but, I wanted variable delay wipers, so recently bought a vectra wiper stalk, and it arrived today. It is fairly up to date, as it has the Set/reset buttons. After taking out all the screws and silly plastic bits, I discovered that the original wiper stalk has an extra 4 pin connector (3 used), whereas the Vectra replacement needs a 6 pin(5 used). There is no sign of an extra connector in the dash well, so I guess that mine (2.2CD auto) can't do variable delay wipe. A bit strange since one of my wife's older cars, a metro HLE, had variable wipe. Strange how some manufacturers put difference emphasis on which bits to fit , or leave out. The Auction said suitable for some Omega's so may fit some other models, but I have no idea which.
Cheers Ken 8-)

As everyone was talking about variable wipers vs rain sesitive I thought about my wife's 52 Astra. That doesn't have variable intermittant either so I wondered if the kit could be fitted to her car so a call was made to Vx to enquire about the price.

There is already a post on this in the ice section.

No extra wires are required.......the intermittent feed (which is already there) simply has a variable resistor in series with is that connects to the delay dial (hence no more wires required).

I have confirmed this on the schematics.....it realy is a case of fitting (the correct) wiper stalk and possibly the relay (check the post in the ICE section as there is a part number and relay location in there)
