If the crank is set to 60degrees BTDC you can do what you like to the cams so you only need the kit to reassemble.  :y

Don't think I'm up to much this weekend if you wanted to pop over. It's probably a full day's work but do-able I'd say. When we did ClarCE's cam change it took from 10 AM until I had to disappear at about 6 when he was just refitting the cam belt. Then he did one of his legendary all-nighters and put it all back together.

You'll obviously need new cam cover gaskets, cam oil seals to be safe and the 2 types of sealant for the cam cover gaskets and the front cam bearing shells. A low range torque wrench would be good too.

Would be investigating the emissions light that came on yesterday if I had my cheapo Tech2. Any bets? Post cat Lambda readings?

To strip, you dont need the kit  :-/

Take it to 60 degree btdc (I think!), remove belt (watch fingers!)

Only need kit to reassemble.

Taking the belt off is my main concern.... i will need assitance for that.

Rest i can do.

Kevin, you free maybe tommorow or Sunday?? I can make the Trek.... I would love to put it on Autotrader this weekend  :D
if someone confirms the 60 degree bit, belt come off easy (release tensioner, carefully remove pulleys, then take belt off)

Yes - 60deg BTDC, so crank at 4 o clock. Then pop the belt off and let the cams relax...

Whoops - Sorry Kevin!

I left the Cheapo Tech2 at Tunnies when sorting out his LPG probs, (along with my lead lamps, and goodness knows what else!)

Tunnie - if you go to Kevs could you take it with you? I guess that could work out quite well.

If not, pop it in the post to Kev (special delivery) and let me know what it costs.

Cheers

No rush, James.  :y

I know what the problem'll be ::) usual 3.2 aggro.

Was on vapours so pulled into a Total garage I don't normally go to and put a splash in (too expensive to fill up). 1/2 a mile up the road the light came on. ::)

right, going to have a bash at it myself today!  :o

Kevin - Its too late for me to come down now, and i feel it would be a bit rushed. Hopfully strip down today, and spend the afternoon cleaning all the tappets really well.

Then re-assemble next weekend, with either Jaimes kit or if James is around....

James - Going to a course on Monday, but on Tuesday i can post the tech2 lead from work  :y

I'll post up photos when i get down to the crank  :y
