Still depends on the tyre...  A particular Pirelli tread is/was known to be short on its life...

Whilst my current budget doesn't allow me to spend massive amounts on tyres, there are still ways of getting decent tyres for budget money...  I know not the best, but Part Worn tyres can be (with caution) an option (I needed 2 tyres for MOT, 2 pw's fitted the bill and passed the MOT, 1 Michelin and 1 Bridgestone)...  Lke I say, not ideal, but, not slide all over the place budgets....
