Get yourself a couple of tins of carb cleaner and have a read of this:-

Then have a look behind the cam belt cover for traces of fresh oil running down. Also feel down the back of the head for traces of oil. If the breathers are badly blocked and the cam covers survived then next weakest link is the cam seals. This would leave a trail of oil from the head downwards behind the cam belt cover.
