Michelins.... if I could afford them, otherwise Kumho's seem ok.. :-/

Khumos on the Golden Oldie, didn't like them, but there may be other suspension issues at work as well...

Talked about Kumho with some friends general acceptance is that its like expensive grippy tires in the dry and highly rated but they are a bit weak in the wet..If you are a normal daily driver at normal speeds its adequate for a reasonable price but for spirited driving in wet, imho dont try..

I've just ordered Dunlop SP Sport 01's for the front. I was going to go with the conti sc3's (already on the rear) but I was seduced by the cheaper price of the dunlops. got them from mytyres who were a bit cheaper than camskill this time around £97 per tyre inc vat and shipping

I've got those on my car, stick in anywhere wet or dry it goes there.

Falken ZE912 is my recommendation. We are on our second set, good all round performance and reasonable wear rate.

Hmmm, allow me to pick on you, without "picking on you" if you see what i mean.

Can i ask what other tyres have been fitted to your omega, and what you thought of those? TB and i have differant oppinions on why people choose a tyre, i'll explane later what i mean.

I was impreessed with my 912's when fitted....

but would like to cover your experience Z...

Goodyear Eagles before the Falkens, also used Falkens on Mercedes C220 Coupe and Porsche 944 Cabriolet, been happy withthem on all these cars.

What tyre size on your Omega? How would you describe your driving style?

must admit i had Dunlop sp 9000 on my last CDX and they were very noisy they was also  on my latest elite and also noisy in fact so noisy i thought diff was fubar i cant wait to get some new ones on, when these get to limit which wont be long the ones on the front are verdestien and pleased with those

Just following up - I now have my Dunlop SP Sport 01's fitted on the front (conti SC3s on back) and my god what a difference. Since owning this car (nearly 3 years now) Its had very poor handling. Wandering all over the road , unstable at speed, poor handling.

It originally had a set of cheapo chinese tyres on, so I first had a set of Falken FK452s, then more recently Falken ZE912s. It has been to WIM 3 times for setup, had new wishbones, steering box adusted and lots of fidding but the handling was still crap.

Now a new set of tyres and bingo its fantastic. Ok its not pin sharp (but it is an omega) but it doesnt wander or tramline any more, it corners crisply and rides more smoothly. No real road noise to speak of either (well no more than previously anyway). Falkens clearly dont suit the Omega.

Oh and the rather worrying shush-shush-shush noise I was getting from the front left has also gone now too. So it wasnt a wheel bearing after all, just the tyre.

for wear & tear hankook,s Optimums are good. the ones on my tractor have been on for at least 25k.s & are still ok. big downside id say is excessive road noise, & for that reason i would probably not use them again. :-/

Size is 225/50/16 all round. Driving style = motorway cruising for 90% of our mileage.

Much better than the more expensive Federal S535s I was on.

Offered quiet running, reasonable grip, sorted the tramilining and looked good.

Wear was minimal after 5,000 miles; not sure how long they would last but how cheap are they?

Obviously grip and wet weather handling is important but the car doesnt get hammered.


But if I go ahead on the GLS and lower/stiffen the suspention then I will want someting super grippy, has anyone tried yokohama tyres.

Thinking about it, I need to change a pair on mine imminently. The old dilemma again. Stump up for SC3s or gamble on something cheaper? :-/

Same dilemma I had - SC3s on the rear but I found the Dunlops a bit cheaper so took a flyer on them for the fronts and so far have been very impressed.

I hear they are ok.. but not tested personally..

if you want silent tires.. micheline primacy hp..but they are weak against deep potholes.. in that case adrenaline 8-)

Conti SC3s are nice and quiet in 17", as are the Falkens, although directional control might be an issue there. Falkens might, on the other hand, be better suited in 16". :-/
