Check the condition of the gearbox mounts, rubber donuts at both ends of the prop (including bolt tightness) and the centre prop bearing for any play.

this might seem daft but check your wheel nuts are secure , just when you mention sway im thinking a loose wheel or bearing?

Depends really on whether it happens only when coming off or going on to the clutch when the vibration occours.

On the centre bearing? If so that could be the cause (I.E. the centre bearing has collapsed causing the prop to pull excessively and tear the rubber protector). If you lie underneath the car and hold the prop just in front of the centre bearing check to see if there is any up/down/side to side movement :y
