vapour from exhaust even when hot
« on: 09 March 2011, 20:47:45 »

My meg suffers from small amounts of vapour emitting from exhaust. Only noticeable when idling at a standstill. I don't believe it is a head gasket issue as there is no significant water loss to speak of. Could just be the cold weather and the fact I only do a lot of comparatively short journeys. Any thoughts?

Water is a by product of combustion.

This is normal, very noticible in cold temps :y

And the V6 exhaust does have quite big surface which cools down the exhaust gases so the exhaust will be quite cold when coming out of back box, hence it looks like steam locomotive even when warm  :y

I always think it's a by product of efficient carburation!!

Also, not so much a by-product as a main product, along with carbon dioxide.
