Emission light Lit
« on: 01 July 2011, 12:45:04 »

hi all
My emmision light as come on a few times over last fortnight i have got it of with my maxscan but something must be amiss
it said 0430 and o431 ithought it might have been the maf. Today it came on again so i read the data it is limited with this maxscan but these are the results
Engine stood
Maf lb/Min 0.198

Emgine running
Maf Ib/min 0.628
02 Bank1  Sensor1     0.430
o2 Bank 1 Sensor2     0.575
o2 Bank2 sensor 1       0.430
o2 bank sensor    2      0.575

it only seems to light when im going steady 50mph but even with light on it still runs perfectly it as run brilliant since last october when DLK worked his magic on it ( i think he must av tweaked the HyperDrive on it) ha ha Star wars term
TIA
Robert

Quite common for 3.2's to throw that pre-cat code up. Solution is to move one of the lambda sensors as per the guide.

IME, a good thrashing with good quality fuel seems to keep it at bay, but that may just be coincidence ;)

Just as an aside I have been to local MOT Centre and had Emmisions checked he assured me they was ok
Co= 0.00 %Vol
HC = 0 ppm Vol
 the next was a icon  ive not seen before
but result was
1.004

So looks like it was just a glitch
But ill get onto Daz with a view to move sensors

Thanks all

Give it a decent clear out, obviously when fully warmed up, and see if the light goes out.

The cats are fine, its the precats are tired.

Do not fit new pattern cats on your car. There are all universallly shite, sound awful, and rarely cure that code anyway.

Move the sensors as suggested, the problem will go away :)

After the emmision light coming on nearly every week i finaly took it to Darth-LooKnee at kidsgrove to sort it for me and a wonderful job he did too. the light as not reappeared since he changed the sensors round for me, he also serviced it for me as well. The car seems to be running much better very pleased with the outcome it was a 90ml journey but well worth it thanks Daz for the work and the explanation how it works.
A truly very competant young man on the spanners
