changing stereo

i got a 2.5 tourer 1998 it got tape player no cd or changer... can i change it to any cd player and if do will it screw up all the display and paddle controls on stearing wheel... if not what can i do help ... plus dont have code for stereo that is in it so cant afford to play about

Only factory fit stereos will work with the display and wheel controls without modification.

Most 'branded' stereos you can get adapters for to drive these, though room is tight behind for the adpaters, so you may not be able to fit both adapters.

Vx in their wisdom reversed 12v and ign wires, so you may need to reverse them.

ok thanks.. next step would be to get a cd player out of a wrecked omega then,, or be a clever git and wangle a ipod to conect to the one i got... on that note .. whats best way round code problem

i have a philips CCR 600 with blaupunkt 6 disc cdc all provided with codes am looking for £30 all in should work with your mig! and keep the display and swc going!  worked perfectly when it was in my mig only reason i stopped using it was i upgraded to bose

He would need to check the CD loom is in place...

if the CD Loom is not in place i can provide you with one but it wont reach the boot!!! might get to under the passengers seat but not much further!

i can also tell you how to wire the cdc but so can the boy and other members!

no doubt can get a etension for cd loom,, maplins etc bound to sell the female male conectors

from top of my head its a 10 pin connector with 9 pins working!
