BOSE or Aftermarket!?
« on: 24 April 2009, 11:57:37 »

Bearing in mind that the NCDC2013 MUST stay, there is no option for replacing it.....am i better to install BOSE in my facelift (BOSE is coming from a facelift) or upgrade all door speakers, pair of boot subs and all amplified (of course)???

i know the aftermarket will be more expensive, but is it worth the extra?!
how does the BOSE compare!? ive never heard it but i know that BOSE make some top quality sounds!
I do love my trance music...

im in a real pickle here :(

IMHO you should stick with BOSE, because it's the original option and it will sound good enough.

Your NCDC Head unit and its MID (assume thats what you have) can be programmed to Bose Mode via a Tech 2. So your just left with changing the speakers, loom and adding a Amp. Job done.

I would go down the Bose route first and see what you think.  :y

Update: Just noticed you have a FL Elite, do you not already have a Bose Set Up?

in his case, no. No idea why not...

He will have a GID or a CID with NCDC stereo. Said stereo has not line out, which will limit choice of amps. Bose setting provides unusual levels only compatible with bose amps.

Bose isn't that loud, if your other car is a corsa, you wear baseball caps, and you think cruising for honeys up and down the high street with your bongo bongo music at full pelt is cool, Bose most definately isn't for you.  Try to see if a member locally has a bose setup and listen to it before committing.

lol i dont fall into your bongo bongo music category but i do like my trance beats :P

i dont have a local member, i would see many 1 omega a week on the roads here!
I was for buying that BOSE set up but then i remember Dave at DND posted that there are splitters that allow amplifiers to be wired up which would allow the low end sounds to be passed to the bass subs....if that makes sense!?

Of course, 2013 has Sat Nav, forgot about that, well spotted. The adding the speakers, loom and Amp bit, I did mean all Bose stuff, sorry didn't make that bit clear.

Wonder why you dont already have Bose?, Northern Ireland, is it an Opel?

Hear what your saying about the lack of Bose Migs over there, what about listening to Bose on early Audi, Mazdas, Mercs etc. Would that not give you some idea about going down the Bose route?

we drive vauxhalls over here seeing as were part of the UK :P :P
and anyways, my car was an english W reg before being brought in! no reason why it wasnt fitted as standard, only think i can think of was that it was spec'd without it...which is odd!!

Ive heard modern BOSE stuff in cars before and in the house but nothing earlish...its hard to find!

I think im swaying towards an aftermarket system, amplified Alpine Type R's front and rear in the doors perhaps..... and a couple of 10" subs in the boot. Quite fancy a wee project such as that anyways!

Something like that, if were talking the Non Bose route. But whether that particular item is any good or not, I don’t know.

I’m sure Dave DND would have something up his sleeve if you’re talking about adding aftermarket bits and keeping your existing Head unit.

LOL!! it appears the bat sign works as well as email!!

The OEM NCDC2013 must stay Dave so i was thinkin components in the front doors, co-ax's in the rear doors and a pair of 10" subs in a sealed or ported box in the boot. 4ch amp for the door speakers and a 2ch for the subs!?

How would one make this happen!? Would a couple of these line converters be suitable!? http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/accessories-line-output-converters-c-73_2139.html
