maybe i wasnt giving it long enough to get signal, im not the most patient.
I was gonna run it up to the sunroof motor housing as theres some room in there for it....its up nice and high in the car and out of sight, worth a try again maybe!

Don`t shield it from the satellites by placing it under the metal of the roof!

You can put it under plastic and fabric, but not under metal.

Under dash or rear shelf are often favourites - gives it a good unrestricted view upwards

tried under the dash too, just in with the head unit but couldnt get a signal again.....will try it again although ill lift it up higher in the dash to behind the CID!

some areas of dash have metal formers in them, avoid these areas, and not uncommon to wait 20 mins to lock on to a set of satellites if starting from a very "lost" position.

ok, shouldnt be too hard to find the formers...the aerials magnetic!

....and i definitely didnt wait 20mins lol!, more like 2, thanks dave!

From an 'unknown' location, expect 5-20m for a decent fix.  Once fix established, should be fairly quick (assuming you don't remove power to HU)
