Further update :

Self levelling shockers fitted (brand new Vx ones !), pump reconnected and it all  seemed to work fine. Too dark to measure anything now, but I'll be hitching the 'van on tomorrow to test them.

Charge ??  : £0 ... really can't fault that sort of after sales service.
