Auto Transmittion control module
« on: 25 July 2009, 06:39:16 »

Just got a new one as the gear selector lights are flashing inside the car and 1 and drive are on together,

Where is it situated and is it just 'plug and play' or does anything have to be reset

Thanks

Thats a selector switch problem, fairly common.

Clean/replace selector switch which is bolted passenger side of gearbox

Waste of time swapping the ECU, as TB says, clean the selector switch.

I know that, but i now have a brand new one that I may as well fit considering the one in the car has been used for 10 years and the alternative is to sell it or put in in the garage.

So i'll try again.

Is it behind the glovebox?

Is it just a straight swap, ie just plug in?

the ecu is situated in the drivers footwell on the right & quite high up [by the gas pedal], id be interested how youve got a new one without getting the info off the original? so i cant say if its a straight swap or not  but if the model number etc match then it should be o,k, but i go with the rest & say its the selector switch at fault :y

does the new one say GS8.20 on it?

Its where Unlucky Alf says.  It **may** need configuring for the car if brand new
