cd/radio
« on: 28 August 2009, 22:19:22 »

Not strictly an Omega question but ......  ;)
the CDR500 cd/radio fitted in Astras and  ..... er  :-/ seems to come in two flavours VDO and Delco.
As Harry Hill would say ....... which one is best!

(or which would would you buy to replace a crappy radio/cassette)

If this one is fully tested .... why does it now need a code? Or did they 'fully test it' without the code?  :-/  ;D  ;D  ;D

And ths seller seems oblivious to the need of the security code ...... 'it's in the removable front' :-/ apparently  :-?  :-?  :-?

actually three versions.

Delco unit has the slight edge over sound quality, but fairly poor deck mechanics. Lasers are all pretty much knackered by now.

VDO has a very reliable deck, but sound not quite so good as Delco.

SiemensVDO unit has slight improvement over standard VDO sound and is the one I would probably opt for myself.

All have their makes on the front fascia for ease of identification, and all of them will require a code number.

Thanks for that Dave. The eBay ads do seem to confirm what you say re Delco lasers, there's a few ads along the lines of ...'it works perfectly, apart from the CD''  :-?
