Its not a panic button mate. It disables the alarm sensors which are in the car.

If you lock someone in the car and they DONT press the button - the alarm WILL go off if they move.
Likewise, If you lock someone in the car and the DO press the button - the alarm WONT go off if they move.

You need to press the button before locking the car though. :y

It doesn't, the owners manual refers to it as "Vauxhall Alarm System"

 :-? :-? :-? Errr i'd like to see this 'dog' setting  ;D

Omegas never had panic mode, as Ian says its to disable the alarm sensors, and i have never seen it refered to as panic mode.

Does two beeps?  :-/

Not sure if this applies to Omega, but most Sigma alarms do actually have a panic facility if the key is pressed for around 5 seconds continously.

Howver, no such thing as a dog setting - I`m guessing you mean interior sensors deactivated or desensitised ?

I'm totally confused.

The Omega button on the dash simply disables the sensors - which is what the fiddly old press button on the Cavalier Mk3 above the drivers seatbelt on the B pillar used to do.

It's there so that you can leave the sunroof or a window cracked open or dogs etc in the back without the alarm going off.

Rusty - can you show where is says that as I previously had '94, '95 & '96 Omegas from new and it was as I've described above. Now I've come back to a '98 its exactly as I recall.

I've got most user manuals here, all describe the operation the same - its to disable ultrasonic sensors, leaving just a perimetric system active

TB,

Can you select / program different options on the Alarm using Tech2 ?  I know that with my Sigma programmer that there are often "hidden" and unconfigured options on many alarm systems -- just didn`t know if you were able to view anything extra as well ?
