Does the MID go out if you remove the radio?

Worth taking the radio out for 20 mins and then refitting, as this will do a "hard reset" of the stereo, and can often cure faults.

I`m presuming that the CD mech is working ok and not jammed, as this can also cause similar faults?

Blaupunkt & Becker have the strongest DAB Tuners for reception in the high end units

Would avoid JVC and anything else around a similar price.

External aerial is an absolute essential item

BUT . . . . . . !!

There are lots of rumblings within the industry at the moment regarding DAB+ or DAB2 whatever you want to call it that may be out soon. If so, it is also rumoured that the current range of DAB units may not be backwards compatable, so personally I would hold fire on anything expensive at the moment. Interestingly, most of the respectable In-Car DAB units seem to have dissappeared from retail at the moment - so something is definately going on.

If you decide that you cannot wait, then look to something like Clarion or Pioneer that utilise an add on DAB hideaway box and that way, only a single replacement component will need to be upgraded in the future rather than the whole system.

 ;)
