dont think any one will reply, i know fog light should stay the same other wise you will get glare back in fog, could get yellow covers for them, or change them to spots i think, :y

Tried a couple of different bulbs that claim to match but never seen one that actually does.

Tempted to fit HID's in them as they are very low down and unlikely to dazzle (the facelift ones are clear lensed as well).

On the contrary. Dipped beam headlights are controlled to have a precise beam "cutoff" below the height of approaching drivers eyes. Fog lights aren't controlled in any way and despite the fact that most of their light is directed to the kerbs there is still a significant amount of output in all (forward) directions. They do have the potential to dazzle, especially if uprated bulbs are fitted, IMHO.

I don't see the point in worrying about lights that may only be used when visibility is less than 100m.

One of my all time pets hates is muppets blinding me with their sodding front foglights on all the time-Fiat Puntos and 206s seem to have the most blinding light pattern and NO (!) option to switch the STUPID things OFF.
Some "missing links" this way drive round in the dark with sidelights on, headlights off, foglights on-which blinds everyone makes them look further away than they really are.

In this rural area with dark, wet, undulating, slippery roads of varying width foglights are dangerous if used when not foggy (eg every time they switch the damned car on) as they temporarily blind cars coming towards them.

On the way home from Knighton to Leominster last night (20 miles/25 mins) 19 cars had a headlight out, 23 had front foglights on.  I counted...

The Police revenue people are missing a trick-they could run the force on defect fines and misuse of foglights fines alone around here.  That would be great  :y :y

Tempted to fit 100W PIA foglight bulbs to blind them back, but this would be childish  ;D
I'll just stick to my Philips Xtreme High Beams  ;D ;D

I too have noticed a tread to have fog lights on all the time. Are headlight design's that bad these days you need spot/fog lights on to see in the dark.As you say it's always the small cars with these on.

On the subject of up grading fog light bulbs, just try some nightbreakers but as stated you might get some back glare when using them in the fog.On mine there seems to be a adjuster screw on each light but this was set at the factory and by the looks you can only adjust left or right not up or down.

No, its because everybody is messing around with el-cheapo bulbs from the net, that burn at funny colours and are not of the same focal length as the original bulbs as thought to be the best for the job by the manufacturers

Daft isn't it!
I only ever use front when really foggy-less than 100m is the law, but 50m more like it.
Rear fogs are only of use to warn a car that can't see you, so as soon as I can see the car close behind me I turn them off as they too are blinding.

Some cars have a more intelligent switching system (eg Daihatsu Sirion) where fogs ONLY work with headlights on and when the lights are turned off, you have to physically switch the fogs back on again as the switch mechanism is loaded for this.

Personally, I think front fogs are a nuisance; the majority of people don't know what they are for and use them all the time; so any safety benefit during the occasional foggy patch use four or five times a year is far outweighed by the blinding they cause other drivers the rest of the time.

Car media is part to blame by always using them in photosets to make the subject look "cool".

Unneccesary foglights are my pet hate AAAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHHHH >:( >:( >:(

Perhaps the police should be given powers to smash the rather things up with guns/fire-axes/lump hammers if they are left on and then make the driver eat all the pieces.

The other point being, what  possible use are they when it is not foggy-they only light the road a few metres directly ahead of the front of the car, which is not far enough ahead to give you stopping distance if you saw anything in the way, any way.  Pointless.

I could see the point while off roading at 5mph, though.

Otherwise POINTLESS!
