Hello all!

If I replace the original GPS with another one, I loose automatically the CID with the board computer? I'm interested for installing a Pioneer AVIC in my car instead my bad NCDC 2013, but I will preserve my board computer (error messages, consumption informations,...).

On my previous facelift 2001, the bord computer commands were on the wiper switch, but now it's the "BC" switch on the GPS!

How can I do?

I believe that if you replace the stereo you'll lose the on board computer functionality...

Although you may be able to do some clever engineering with an older system :-/ :-/

If you remove the NCDC, you lose the entire functionality of the display (as you cannot control it).

You can fit a MID in its place, run in a couple of wires, and fit a stalk with the S and R buttons on.

I had a Pioneer AVIC-HD3II on my previous 2001 Omega. That was totally something else! Lots of POI, 3D mapping, compatible with steering wheel controls, touch screen, 30GB hard drive for music, and more ... I miss him!

I think the NCDC2013 is not at all clear or practical to encode adresses, and the maps are not enough detailed.

On which wires can I connect the S and R buttons? Why can I not use them with my CID? (It would be nicer...)
I have a Bose sound system on the car, it will not be a problem?

What I would like is to reinstall a Pioneer, but could still use my CID with S and R buttons on a wipers switch. So, the same installation as my previous Omega, but with a CID and a Bose sound system ^^.

Any ideas? Thank you all again!

as said, you need to use a mid, and lose the cid.  You'll need to lose the bose, and replace all speakers as well.

As TB said, you will need to lose the entire BOSE system. The Pioneer head unit is not compatable with teh amp as it will overdrive/blow it and will give very little control over the volume, and the BOSE speakers that are fitted are 2 Ohms resistance, which is certainly not comatable with the more conventional 4 Ohms as used in most cars. If you connect the Pioneer to a 2 Ohm speaker it will see this as ashort circuit and the head unit will fail very quickly.

I cannot comment about the display, but if TB says that you need to use a MID instead of the CID, then thats exactly what you need to do.

However, worth the effort, as the AVIC is a very nice system.

So how did he do on his Vectra in the video on youtube? It's a CID, but "without head unit"... Because even a MID, I have no cable that comes at the steering wheel.
And for the Bose system, a shop told me that there are adapters?

Because the CID implementation in later cars (Vectra C etc) uses a multiple CAN implementation whereas the Omega version only has CAN between head unit and screen and as the control is via the head unit on the NCDC/R equipped cars if you remove the head unit you will not have the control interface.

So the NCDC IS the control interface? Or there is another electronic box that control the screen and that the head unit "activate"? That's what I thought... I think that the board computer is elsewhere than in the head unit... No?  Anyway the only thing I need is the board computer. Don`t confuse the later Zafira technology with the earlier stuff from the Omega - Not Possible.
