hi, having messed about tonight with the car and spoke to a mechanic i think i could have a sticking solenoid, does anyone know if this is a common thing?? mechanic said due to the moisture in the diesel its possible that the solenoid could be pitted or faulty. anyone have any ideas on this?

sorry...... car would start, rev and then cut out, we put a 12v feed to the fuel pump cranked it and she started first time. then as im driving home from work the bloody thing cut out!! and wouldn't start.
do you know if you can change just the solendiod?
any help with this would be great im pullin my hair out!

A few questions....

How much fuel was in the car at the time?

When was the last time the lift pump was cleaned?

If there was less than 20 litres in the car, try adding some fuel to take it above the 20 litres and try again. If it starts and runs OK then clean the lift pump (see the maintenance guide index for the HowTo) :y
