Anyone got £14,500?
« on: 18 October 2006, 20:31:20 »

Hello,

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HOLDEN-HSV-GTS-UK-4-Door-Monaro-Better-than-a-VXR_W0QQitemZ260041773475QQihZ016QQcategoryZ18308QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Has to be the ultimate motor to be based on the V platform, this ones a VX I think as it has the LS2 engine, which replaced the 5.0 Holden V8. It's also been breathed on by Holden Specialist Vehicles (HSV) which makes it extra special. You have the excellent RWD setup of the Omega, the space of the omega and even more handsome looks, but 5.7 litres of small block power.

I would sell a kidney to have one.

Its an LS1 engine, the LS2 is a 6.0 so its not a VXR equivalent

I want one.

Would need to fit the 2005/6 hood on it though.

Its not actually a 4 door Monaro, its a Holden Commodore VT

They made a VX and are currently on the VY.

Fantastic car, but over priced, they are very rare, but only normally get about 12k, dont forget its a 6 year old car and brand new they are around 30k

LSV are currently selling an unregistered 'breathed on' one for 31k

But as ive said before if i had  the cash it would be a toss up between one and a TVR Cerbera

Lovely lookin motor but much prefer the back of the VX monaro and mark is right (as always) that the VXR is a 6.0 litre not a 5.0 as that is :)

The LS2 is the one to go for.....better economy than the LS1, uses the LS6 heads (bloody brilliant!), flat top pistons, better ignition, lighter etc etc.

Hello,

The VY went out of production on the 25th July 2006, their now producing an all new car on the Zeta platform, HSV are already modding the VE Commodore as it is now known. The 2 door monaro and wagon models are still based on the old V platform I think.

Sensational cars though, this one has the 5.7 litre Chevvy unit I think, as the 5.0 Holden V8 went relatively early on in the VT run...

Yep, its an LS1 5.7 litre Gen III, the LS2 is a 6.0 GenIV...slighty modified block and larger bore (LS2 is a 4 inch bore)
