busy week!
« on: 14 March 2008, 22:24:59 »

First off the tech guys installed a new jBoss node into the cluster to support expected new traffic from USA. But the company who host our stuff, c0cked up on the load ballancer, so the sites where up and down all day on Monday and Tuesday  :(

During the weekend, I was on call, and we had massive power cuts in the office, Sundays powercut caused a powerspike with blew the ADSL connection in our local exchange.

Today I was told the company i work for has been sold to an American company for some £50 million odd  :o :o

We stay they same, the american company has no European presence, so we are all safe. But it means i won't get to go to New York now  :(

Ohh and being chucked out of our nice office in Covent Garden, they are turning the offices into Flats.

So we are moving offices in June!

And finally I am off to Slovina on Sunday!

I need a beer.....

Heard that one before.......recently to (and on more than one occasion).

Until on wednesday this week it was announced the site on which I work will be closed and we are all redundent but can apply for half the number of jobs in Coventry.

Does this mean you need to look for work, or move to Coventry, I don't like Coventry

Coventry isn't great, but it isn't that bad either.  Better than London.  ::)

Thats a bit of a shit commute every day.  And with a young family, not easy to up-sticks  >:(

We are still being given 'the account (we work on) is doing well, you're in safe hands with us' stuff, although we all know we've been sold out to another company.  They are all full of shit  >:(

Lol, the alternative is on the M6/M69 inter change (or will be next spring) and I would commute upto about 8-10 miles...so would live in the surrounding if thats the choice we took.

Hummmm bugger!  >:(

Reason i think we are safe, is the american company has nothing in Europe what so ever. they are only in the USA, hence them buying us.

Makes this uncertian though, only been in the job 7 months. Company has about 40 people in it, so anything can happen.

I just going to keep working there and build up as much experiance as i can, incase anything happens.

Thanks  :y

Although i think they are the wrong bits  :(

They look nothing like the clip it should be?  :-/

I already have plastic clip holes in the floor of the carpet, looks like a 3  pin clip is needed to slot in and hold the matt down, but the ones i have got, actually look like an updated version for holding up sound proofing stuff, like underneath the glovebox!  :(

In which case they will have made the purchase for market share/access alone I would say.

Mark, you of all people will have a role in Coventry if you so choose.

I personally think you will be approached by various other companies wanting to bring someone of your expertise in.

Or you could become a consultant?
