Joking, these guys and gals do a good job, voluntary work also i believe. :y

Are we mixing things up?
There are community support officers, who get paid but no powers;
Special constables, police powers but work voluntarily.

some are liaison cars or CID cars

mostly here they're astra diesels, unmarked ones, the od peugeot 307, 05-07 ford focus, even a Zafira and a Ford Galaxy floatin about this area

the traffic squad based at eccles have an unmarked black MV6 (still with 17s on it), an unmarked audi A3 estate, and an unmarked black WRX impreza, so if you feel like throwing your car down the east lancs road, be warned ;D
A580. I know the East Lanc.well but only in the truck. Speed & traffic light cameras. I behave myself on there!!!! 8-)

We have 2 silver Octavia's a couple of Black Scoobies and a Grey 57 reg 5 series tourier, all of them unmarked

The old bill are really clamping down on people speeding down the A38, in places it would be theoretically possible to cruise at over a ton.
I say theoretically as i would never dream of driving a car at that speed.

When we were in France we were doing well over a ton, you knew you were doing it but it still felt relaxed and reasonably smooth.

The Alfa is very deceptive, cruising along, it doesn't make a lot of noise, look at the speedo and the answer to why nothing is overtaking you is there on the dial 110mph  :o

I remember what Le Mans weekend was like a few years back. Doing a ton + on the autoroute from Calais and it felt like you were going backwards with all the exotica maxed out in the outside lane. :o

Can any officers comment on the legality of refusing to stop for an unmarked car flashing blues & two's at you if you suspect that it might not be genuine, say out late at night in the lanes?

If you slow and acknowledge their presence but fear that it could be a set up, especially if they're in something older and unmarked, can you drive on to find a safe place to stop, ie garage forecourt?

Not happened to me but heard of it happening to a female friend on her own late at night and I advised her to do as above. Is it acceptible or could you get done for refusing to stop?

I suspect if you acknowledge they are there, and drive calmly to a safer place, you don't have too much to worry about - and any understanding officer should be OK with this, especially if it's a lone female etc..
Having said that, I've no idea what the law says on the matter...

I was followed by one years ago who kept flashing - I refused to stop until blue lights cam on - he asked why - I said could be a nutter. Didn't look like a Police car (BTW stopped me as late in the evening)
