03 2.6 CDX to 03 3.2 Elite
« on: 27 December 2011, 16:44:24 »

Hi guys, i have recently brought a 03 3.2 Elite, and was wondering what parts are swappable between the two?  (03 2.6 CDX and 03 3.2 Elite)

I have also a few little problems with Elite, i know for certain that the rear sus needs replacing, well the passenger side does, I also getting reading when using those diagnosing tools - One code was : P0420 , and i have forgoten the other one :(. But it said: Heated Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank l and 2), which i think is the Lambda Sensors needing to be replaced. I also beleive that the Propshaft needs changing, but the noises the car makes i am not sure how to explain, they sound kinda of like, when metal hits metal continuesly, tuk, tuk, tuk noise?  Sorry for the very poor explaination. Also when i was driving the car back i noticed that the heating doesnt work in the middle or driver side, but the passanger side lets heated air out.

And can someone please help me identify where i can buy original parts for it, please.

Sorry for such a huge list, but these are the few things i have seen/heard so far, maybe more, but we will have to wait and see :)

Thanks

Most parts are comaptable where not car spec specific. Eg, Seats are memory on Elite which also has self levelling rear shocks, so your cdx won't self level, although they will fit. Self level shocks are £150-170 on trade club see link at the bottom for tc info.

Pre cat codes 0420/0430 are normal on the 3.2. It's a pre cat efficiency problem, NOT a lambda sensor or main cat problem. Ignore this for now. Although the dash light on is annoying.

Nock could be anything from loose exhaust to suspension, depends what triggers it. Is it in time with bumps! Or swaying of the car which might indicate a loose or knocking exhaust.

Central heater vents are normal for later cars with software update. Although you could try the climate control re set as described in the owners manual. Press and hold auto and off continually with ignition in position 2, until the vents start to buzz. Although sounds the same as mine.

Sourcing parts depends on the parts you need. Ask here first for info.

Err i am very sorry, but i have no idea what the Pedal Trick is, where to start, and what it does, and well i know nothing about it

Also i have tacken it to a new garage, and they done a quick test run with it, and inspected the car and told me i need a new Propshaft and Rear Diff, as it is making noises that it shouldnt atm. They told me that i defo need new rear shocks, which i already know about, and also new Front Brakes, which i believe are fine atm, but they will need changing soon...

I have found pair of front breaks, but i do need a new Dif, new Propshaft, and a pair of rear shocks, and i wanna keep all the parts genuine

Anyone know where/who i can get these parts from.

Thanks

Pedal Trick:

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90581.0

Don't take it back to that garage!  :o

Its very, very rare for a diff to fail, if they do its more of a whine to them, rather than ticking. As previously mentioned that could be more suspension/exhaust such as a loose heat shield.

Ok, well as i am going to get the New Sus put in, ill see if all goes away.

Ooo and thanks for the pedal trick video, will do that as soon as i can.

But maybe explaining the problem a bit more will help.

Its constantly there, doesnt matter if i go over a bump or not, however once i go over 40 it seems to stop making that noise

As tunnie said, try a different garage,or even better ask if theres an OOFer nearby who can give some help and advice.
Personally,I have never heard of an Omega propshaft needing replacing, although it isnt impossible of course.
It sounds very much like they are trying to rip you off to be honest. ;)

Ok hi guys i see that my previous post was deleted, im guessing its because i posted it in the wrong place ?

But as for the updates on the car, i am off tommorrow and will be fitting new shocks, and front breaks all brought from the dealer. So sourcing for original parts ill just go to them.
I have also had a quick look just like an hour ago, and there seems to be a cable connected to the front passenger side Brakes, how can i get this out without damadging anything ?  Coz my mate told me to be carefull with that as when he did his when he put the new breaks in the cable wouldnt stay/click back into place. any help or advice on that ?

And can someone tell me what may be the problem with the heating ?  As well hot air comes from the passenger side vent, but not as hot as it should/could be, and from the middle and driver side there is no hot air at all. I think if i remember Chris, you said to try to reset something? How do i reset it?

Lastly Pedal Trick will be done probs tomoz after i have put in the new brakes and shocks

Thanks a lot for the help guys. And is it me, or the newer the Omega i get, the more problems i have ?  I used to own a 2.2 16V CD 4d Auto, had no problems with(Besides a gear box problem, which made the Fuel Comsumption really bad), but i wanted to Upgrade to something with a bit more, and every garage i take it too seems to want to rip me off haha.

Also done the Pedal Trick, and well the car with a spanner through it just kept flashing without any pauses, i got up to about 1236, and would of kept going, but i thought i was doing something wrong.

i pushed both Brake and Accelerator down, then put the ignition into Pos. 2, and thats it, just started counted and it went of forever!!!

If it just flashes steadily forever it means there are no codes present.

Ahh i see, yeah it was continues and steady, so i guess there are noo errors at all...

Can anyone help with this noise? I have had new shocks put in and nothing seems to have changed, i have also looked underneith myself and everything seems ok, no leaks from the diff, exaughsts seems fine is well. But it is continuesly there no matter how faster i go, however the faster i go the quiter the sound becomes. But i noticed when i jacked the car up from the back and put in to drive and accelorated up to about 30 and a few times 40 the sound was no longer there. So its more of a suspension problem? Any suggestions what this may be?
