3.2 MPG question
« on: 14 January 2012, 22:09:52 »

Just a quick one re: mpg, I get 220-240 miles from a full tank. Hardly ever drive it in S mode and havent got a lead foot but 60-70 % of my journey is start/stop town driving and max journey distance is 7 miles.

Does this sound reasonable? I not that bothered about the poor MPG if its due to the type of driving as long as nothing is wrong with the car.

Sounds low, but if its town driving with an auto, it will be poor.

I have done about 90 miles since my last fill up and have used just under half tank. This is mainly because I wanted to see what the S button does.

But as I do about 100 miles a month, not a major problem yet.

Around town and playing the traffic light GP I reckon I could easily get single figure mpg out of mine :o

When running it on petrol I never managed much over 300 miles to a tank, even on a shortish run ::)

I've certainly been known to do £10 of petrol (when that was 2 gallons) on my extended 20 mile test route ::). Out of big towns, its actually takes some effort to average sub 10mpg over a couple of gallons.

Looking back at TBE's stats, best I've managed was 30mpg between fills.

On LPG, TBE is fairly consistent around 17-18mpg.

On my 3.0, I have more than once managed the magical 500 miles per tank ;D. Never in the UK though ::)

when i'm just pottering around locally, i rarely see more than 275-300 a tank,   during a period when i'm doing longer runs she'll hit 450 a tank...

Is about right for a 3.2, although its a bit of a shock after an effective 55mpg I would get from my 2.2 LPG! £45 got me 400 miles, now £70 gets me 300  :o

Yep, I was managing OK putting a tankful into the 3.2 every week until I bought a DTi for Mrs VXL and got used to a tankful every two weeks! Bought another DTi for myself after that...

One day i'll LPG the V6, if I can summons up the enthusiasm to do it!

Mine has done 24.5 (according to the trip computer) and that's an average over approx 5000 miles. I rarely reset it so I can get an overall view on what it's doing. On average I get 260-320 miles from a tank but it can be as low as 220 with spirited driving or as high as 400+ if I use a full tank on a run.

That's about  what my 3.0l auto estate manages.

It does about 30mpg on the motorway without any attempt to drive economically. It's much better than my old 525, which never managed more than 26.

On the way home from Beaulieu in June I got 35mpg, but we didn't go over 50mph.
