Alarm/Flashes keep Going Off
« on: 15 January 2012, 14:03:16 »

My 2001 estate keeps setting the alarm lights off randomly. The sounder looks like its all ready been disconnected but the lights keep going off especially when its damp outside.

What would cause this and can it be easily disconnected. Also if disconnected will it stop the light flashing when locking unlocking??

You need to work out whats wrong, rather than try to bodge around the problem.

A decent code reader will tell you why its going off, but a starter for 10 is the bonnet switch (disconnect) or pane break sensor on estates (visually check or measure with meter)

Well I've disconnected the bonnet switch but they have still gone off. Can the rear pane sensor be disconnected??

I think its N/C, but opens when pane breaks (or faulty). Test with a meter :y

id say it the rear pane breakage sensors with bad connection, if you disconect them by just pulling wires off the alarm thinks its on a saloon and disables that option, you dont need to connect wires together as you will find in other posts, been there and had same problem myself, mine was going off mainly during night and was begining to wonder if car was frightened of the dark lol, since disconecting wires not had a alarm sound

:y Well on checking the rear sensors I found one to be extremly loose and pulled off way too easily. I have closed the prongs up slightly and pushed back on then checked the other three which appear ok.

Hopefully that will cure it but as it randomly goes off I will have to wait and see what happens  ::)
