The written word can not truly reflect the situation.....

Two lady colleagues had to travel to Huddersfield today, so a car was hired, apparently they had asked for a diesel car.

Mid afternoon we got a call into the office from one of them, they had pulled into a garage to fuel up..(LD Calm down ::)) clerk took the call and mad an announcement, G has phone, they asked for a diesel car went to fill up and on opening the fill saw a sticker saying 'unleaded' so what fuel should they put it?

Remember I am the only male in the office, advice given was, person a) I will ring the hire company to ask Person b) what does it smell like?     The best bit, the hire company did not know!!!!!! I commented that I could not believe they had driven to Huddersfield and back without knowing if they were driving a diesel or petrol, and suggested the instruction on the filler should be an indicator........how the heck should we know........one of these is a bit of a farmer and seems so sensible, the other is a bit girly....

OK The sticker should be right but in the interest of safety I stepped in and told them to ask someone at the garage....and went off to bang my head on the wall.....

No wonder by this time next year LD will be a millionaire..... :D :D :D

tbh, its not easy. you have diesel, super diesel, unleaded and super unleaded. now i know what goes in my various vehicles accept at 6 in the morning. pulled into a texaco garage at 9 on the evening and i still managed to pick up the wrong pump due to the poor layout of the nozzles. the only tell tail was that the nozzle would not physically fit. :-[

Start it up. Does it sound like a tractor and bathe the forecourt in smoke?

Have you driven all that way wondering why the rev limiter is set too low and the brakes appear to be binding?  :D

Not too hard... ;)

Can't understand why the companies don't simply put a small 'Petrol' or 'Diesel' sticker on the dash for the driver to know.  And if the rental company doesn't know, do they bother with servicing them at all then  ::)

They put the sticker on the filler cap instead.

Why does the receptionists need to know details of a particular car? They just hand out the keys.

As Kevin says, if you can't tell a diseasal from a petrol car by the sound of it ..................  ::) ::)

Like I said do they service them and could that 'diesel' noise be the camshafts giving way as there is no oil in the engine.  :P ;D

Receptionist should be able to get the car details on her PC screen as well, as bound to be someone wanting to rent either only a petrol or diesel  ??? .  Mind you she probably thinks the 'Green or Black' tag for the fuel is what finger nail polish should be used when driving a particular fuel of car!  ::)

do you remember the toy you had when you was two or three?. probably not.

the job was to hammer the square peg into the square holes and the round pegs into the round holes...

yet a unleaded nozzle will still fit in a diesel tank filler tube.

any question on the next shuttle launch will be answered .. soon.
