Buttons or Zips?

It's been one of those day's today when i could'nt stop going for a pee, don't know if it was the weather or my age  ::). Anyway after wrestling to release Monty for the umpteenth time by unbuttoning my flies, it dawned on me as to the reason why they invented button flies when a quick zip does the job a lot faster and quicker. Just wondered if it was me who dislikes button flies in situations like these  :-/

ive got worse in last yr, up in the night now for one lol. and at least twice on the way home from pub probably 500 yrds away. to make it worse in buttons

I have a sort of related question. Why is it that when you are dying for a pee, as soon as you see the toilet you can't hold it in and you've only got a split second or its wet pants, or is it only me that suffers this problem  ::)
