LOL

It is becoming apparent the bad drivers who used to drive bmw's are now driving audi's. That said I think running costs of the phaeton could be quite high. I think if I could probably afford to buy and run a phaeton, the I would seriously consider a VXR8. Has the exclusivity to it the other don't have. Ok the phaeton has a bit of it but not as much as the VXR8.

Just my useless opinion of course.

Horses for courses - if you are 6ft 6" and a bit of a fat b*****d large boned individual then the Phaeton is the better bet. My son is slim and 6ft 4 and has been usiong the A4 and A6 and is finding back issues - seems to be seating position problem mainly in A4 I think.

The Phaeton is permanent 4 wheel drive and price wise you get a lot of car for the money but it is steel bodied unlike newer Audis which are aluminium and therefore lighter and better on fuel. I get 37 to the gallon from my V6 diesel on a run which is pretty good, insurance for last 2 years is only £300 pa, tax is £435. However servicing for one major amd one intermediate service is £379 including 2 MOTs on VW service plan.

The toys in the Phaeton are significant - but the telephone system built in is Nokia so it loves Nokia S60 phones. You are getting a Bentley continental platform

Audis have rock hard seats and overly firm suspension that's prone to faults.

Phaeton does not, it's rarer, more comfy, cracking interior, and is one of those over engineered cars we all want. If Clrackson is to be believed.

Plus personal preference, Phaeton is a far better looking car IMO.

Although as said, I'd have to way up the Phaeton and vxr8. Neither have drop down back seats afaik. Plus there's where to put the LPG tank, I'd want a deep full size spare wheel well in the boot floor preferably.

I got picked up from the airport in an A8 L 3.0 TDI quattro earlier this week.

Absolutely cavernous interior and pretty comfortable for an Audi, I thought. I was probably in the right place in the back seat, though. Can't see it driving as nicely as an Omega. Handy if you want to do weddings / funerals as a sideline. ;D

Phaeton all day long for me, assuming I was in a position to afford the running costs. Personally, probably wouldnt want a VXR8 these days.Good fun if driving fast is your main reason for leaving the house,(I seem to have moved on from that, due to getting old I suppose) but not a sophisticated mile muncher like the Phaeton.
As for the Audi - I just dont like Audis, never have never will.Got quite a few at work in various specs etc. and they just dont float my boat.
