Had to see some pretty horrific things myself in the past, as have many other members :(

It's tough to deal with but you have to find a way. The lad did the right thing... I wouldn't let my Mrs walk in on a sight like that ;)

He needs to go to his GP and seek some counselling ;)

Agreed, you have to be a pretty sick bastard (like me) not to be affected by such stuff.  However, after a while there is a point where you become numb to such stuff....... :(

The GP is the first point of call when seeking the proper counselling for this sort of thing, do not let him bottle it up.  Even if it is just one session he must go and see them.

Not sick - I'd be in that category too if that were the case - just, as you rightly say, numb to it ;) You find a way to cope with it. Mine is through humour, some most of which wouldn't be appreciated by people who have never had to experience that sort of thing

Situations like this can spoil your day, thats for sure, and in extreme cases, put you off your cornflakes.

I have lots of wee boxes where such things are stored in the back of my mind and now and again, they do come to the surface.  And that can only be a good thing, but thats how I learnt to deal with it.   If you do not have a thick, well seasoned skin then counselling is definately a viable option, if only this one time to see how such counselling agrees with you - or not, as the case may be.  Each to their own.

I found out the truth in LD's post. You find a way to cope with it. Mine is through humour, some most of which wouldn't be appreciated by people who have never had to experience that sort of thing Many years ago working as a press photographer I went to the scene of a particularly nasty RTA. We waited hours while ambulance staff located and retrieved body parts. I couldn't believe it when a gang of coppers stood around joking and laughing, so I went and voiced my contempt. A wise and calm Inspector took me aside and said. 'Lad, my blokes have to deal with things like this every day, believe me they are all hurting, but what you have witnessed help.....To keep them sane'. My tail between my legs, I shuffled off and apologised..  :(
