washer bottle water went jelly!!
« on: 10 September 2009, 10:46:35 »

Had a weird thing happen to the water in the washer bottle, put in some screen wash, topped up with water, then few hours later at work decided to clear screen and what came out is only best described as jelly, lol.
The screen, roof, bonnet all made the car look like a jelly mould!!! :o
So disconnected the pipes and flushed out, weird!!!!!!!!!! :D

The very same thing happened to me some years back. I think it happens when the old screen wash has gone off (i didn't drive that particular car much in winter) It smelt off & was just like a mixture of liquid & jelly. I flushed the whole system through with some bleach solution & all was fine after :)

This blobby glue is the detergent in the screen wash. This settles at the bottom of the bottle. If you only fill the washer bottle with a jug the segment doesn't get mixed up.Best way to stop this is top up with a hose and when empty pour some hot water from the kettle into it.If you don't it may block the washer motor and jets :y

More commonly due to cheapo washer fluid. If it was present in the fluid in the first place surely it would settle out in the concentrated fluid while on the shelf ....  :-/
