I just got quoted 636 for rear brake pads ( not pads and discs) from Jaguar.

 ....

Are you sure that wasn't a supply & fit price? Dealers (especially high end marques) tend to assume that the customer won't want to dirty their hands. Still stupidly expensive even if it is a fitted price

150,000!  :o  There are places that you can buy 3 houses for that!  ::)
Or one really nice house somewhere else  :D

maybe an 'OK' house  ::)
$200,000 will get you something nice a stones throw from any city in the Southern US... 165,000 will buy you a nice apartment or Finca anywhere in Spain/France /Italy. ;)
I didn't realise we were including over seas  ;D

Permanent nights too, so works for me  8)

I did that for 15 years ... initially Mon to Fri 10 till 6 then later did 3 nights a week 6 till 6. Worked great when the kids were little but wouldn't do it now. The odd night shift recently has just reminded me I wouldn't want to do nights on a permanent basis now  :y

Plus stripping the carpet and sound insulation to get it properly dried out.

we spent ages last year trying to dry SWMBO's car out after a blocked scuttle soaked the interior .... not sure if it is actually properly dry (but I don't drive it very often  ::))

 or Hillman Imp.  Notable for practically nothing.

Silly camber angle at the back ... weren't they at a silly height to comply with light heights somewhere abroad? (USA?)
Vacuum throttle on early car very quickly removed for a conventional throttle
Industrial unrest in Scotland where they were first made
All ally (pump) engine that was a bit before its time ... also used in the Bond 875
Better than a Mini  ::) ::) ::)

My MKIII was in Roman bronze .... the colour disguised the rust extremely well!  :y

And I caught a glimpse of a MKI Escort the other day in the same colour!  :)

I saw one on the telly the other month .... Salvage Hunters. They paid something like  6/7k & then spent 30+k on a rebuild - it was a rotbox. Sold it it for 40k

 :y :y :y :y

I think 5600 could buy a reasonable house in '73' :y

My parents paid less than half that for their 3 bed semi a couple years before hand.
House prices in Mancchester haven't improved much... ;D

Like any town/city there are posh areas & not so push areas  ;)
