Guys, think I'm in desperate need of new front disks and pads.
Had quote from Vaux £109 + VAT Retail £89.89 + VAT with trade card.

Can anyone recommend anywhere at a reasonable quality and price, please.

omega is a big heavy car to stop.

many many complaints of pattern etc warping very quickly

buy genuine, very good value

As per the other replies, it's cheaper in the long run to buy OE, cheap pattern tend to warp quickly.

I'd agree to an extent that pattern parts are not generally up to much but Mintex Has anyone had experience of Mintex discs warping on Omegas?? Ive used these on MK2 Mondeos, Vectras etc and they seem to be pretty good :-/

Can anyone please explain what he means by "then angle tighten 30 degrees..." when tightening the capliper.

My own preference is for genuine Vx discs and EBC 'Green Stuff' pads

AFAIK angle tighten means tighten to specified torque and then tighten the nut a further 30 degrees rotation.

AFAIK angle tighten means tighten to specified torque and then tighten the nut a further 30 degrees rotation. 

And that's for the the carrier, not the caliper.

From personal experience I bought some brake discs for my 2.6 Carlton from dealers.  When I looked at the invoice there was a star beside the discs, which at the bottom of the invoice read "May not be of GM origin"  So I'd gone to a dealers and ended up with pattern parts.

Please dont feel as you wasted your time on adviseing me to go for Vx parts. But because money is tight at the moment and also feeling like the local Vx are taking the Pi##. Long story :-?

I have gone for the Mintex, I'll let you know how they go, I know only time will tell. But hopefully they will last until times are better and money isn't as tight.

Wouldn't feel bad fella, in a similar boat to you with counting pennies. Must admit that after all the advice, I've also gone for the Mintex discs & pads.......my personnal choice for years. About halfway through bedding them in and so far they feel very good. £50 cash after some haggling

Having said that, if the discs do warp in time then i suppose its a lesson learnt......but Mintex have never let me down in the past even with a lot of abuse.

An angle gauge is required for this, obtained from halfords/motor parts factors appx £20.
