Having looked at the website I'm none the wiser. Can a techno nerd advise if this will A) Read both my '99 TD AND my 51 plate 3.2. and B) work on an iPhone4.

One of these will never work with an iPhone. You need a wifi reader not a Bluetooth one. Which are a LOT more expensive.

A) They say it won't work with X25XE or X30XE. Those are both pre OBD2. I wouldn't be surprised if they failed to mention that a 99TD is also pre OBD2 and won't work either.
B) An Android app isn't going to install on an iphone. no ifs no buts.

Yes, the iPhone has BT, but it is not accessible by Apps in the same way as Android.  According to Apple (quite rightly for most things) BlueTooth is old technology.

Grab the free one before you go spending any of your hard earned Andy. My reader works with torque but won't connect with scan my opel.

Which is a basic excuse for them not getting it working correctly!

Works fine. Only accesses the engine ECU though so don't know if the full version would access the gearbox

A Bluetooth ELM327 code reader gubbins. Sounds like the one Andy H has works, the cheap Chinese vgate device I have doesn't seem to connect but works with Torque.

Any suggestions as to where I would get one of these and a rough idea of cost?
