the trouble with the sensors is that they tend to go open circuit/wera through early ie when there's still loads of pad life left. This is cos the unworn lip at the very edge of the disc will start to cut/wear through the sensor before the main braking area of the disc does.
Thanks for info. I was pointing a finger at pads first off as when I bought the car it was 'don't worry about that message there is loads of pad left' - mm never to be trusted that statement - but to be fair there is loads of pad left. Sensor wasn't quite clipped in properly on the side I checked - and thought I have sorted it.. but on clipping back in I still have the message - checked both sides.
Asked about if they are seperate as by then, pre-emptively I have already bought some pads and thought oh - no sensors! First car I have had where they didn't at least come in the box with a new set of pads (used to Audi)
