Wheels in Motion
« on: 23 July 2009, 18:45:33 »

Just back from a 210 mile round trip to see Tony at WIM to have alignment sorted and two Falken 452's fitted. Was well impressed with whole thing. Tony went out of his way to explain what was needed to be altered on my Elites alignment and what had caused the wear on the o/s front, namely the camber being way out. After adjustment and having the Falkens fitted to replace two Michelins at the rear, it was immediately apparent on setting off back to the coast that the whole feel of the car was much improved, steering much more positive and the steering wheel in the centre position at last after the toe setting was corrected.
Like other forum members, cannot recommend Tony's outfit too highly. The tyre price was not too bad either compared to some and it was very convenient to get both items done at the same time.

Yup, well worth the trip.

Ive done it twice from Chester.

Just a shame you have to travel to get this level of understanding and service.

I highly recommend him. About a 100m round trip for me, but worth the time and petrol without a doubt.

In fact my MV6 is going down there in the next 2 or 3 weeks for its annual tweaking

When I went there, nothing was tweaked.

Despite the fact We'd changed the wishbones, and adjusted the camber with a spirit level - everything was within limits, the only adjustment made was front tracking

Thanks for your mileage commitment wingman and indeed to others who have made that special trip.

The Omega chassis does have it's problems but it's such an easy fix providing they follow the 1 degree 10' wim rule  ::)

It's a 220 mile, 4 hour (on paper at least) trip from here. I suppose that's only £20 in gas  :y so if I get the time would be worth a pop.  :-/

Didn't MarkDTM mention a similar outfit in Loughborough once upon a time though?

One last Omega on the drive, one Corsa on the lawn...maybe they'll go to a good home before too long!

Well worth the trip. I did about a 450 mile round trip, and on the way back up I was hunting out wiggly roads so as to revel in the new handling capabilities... :y

I could do with getting them to look over mine.

It EATS front tyres on the outside edge  :'( (Then again, I could be all the city driving I do  :-/ )

It also pulls to the left a bit too.

Edit: Its 400 miles round trip from York  :'( :'(

It might be a 400mile round trip, but your doing it in a miggy my man, and there is no  other way to travel but in style. When you leave wim, you might just want to go home the long way. :D :y

Why will the MPG double?   No prob not as you will press the loud pedal more cos the car will handle better, BUT you smile will double. ;D :y

Due to other commitments (WIM are involved in track cars), there are no plans to hold another series of club specific days.  There are plans to hold open days for other things, related to chassis dynamics.  Due to the number of clubs that WIM are active in, and timescales, these are likely to be pure open days, which members from many different clubs attending.

I know their is something in the pipeline soon  :-X which sounds interesting, but will leave that to Tony@WIM to announce once things are confirmed.
