don't want to throw a spanner in the works, but, I once had an Elite facelift Estate that we did loads of suspension work ourselves on . wishbones, camber set by spirit level, etc.

Took it to WIM and all but the tracking was spot on -

While I've no doubt wim are genuinely very good - it cost me over £80 for a tracking only adjustment...  :-X

Had the same on ours after I did the shocks, wishbones, & droplinks.

We (my mate & I) went "old school" on setting it up after we put it all back together (protractor, string, level, and a couple of bits of 2x1) and when it went on the ramp at WIM...the front end was (to quote) "nothing wrong with that mate, and we won't get it any better".

Computers are pretty good, but nothing will ever take old school away.

What should the correct reading be then TB.

Had it rechecked again yesterday and readings were set at :
Camber
 front    Left   -2.1                        Right   -1.8
Rear              -2.3                                  -2.2.

So is this incorrect as according to machine and operative that was perfect for age of car and mileage.

Specification printout from their  computer shows a min and max specification.
Front Camber min = -2.4     max = -0.9
Rear.........................-2.5                -1.2

Strange thing is car is incredibly stable and appears totally true with no vibration or tram lining

I was advised that the rear suspension donuts should be considered as worn so worthwhile having replaced and evidence of leakage on rear shock absorber so again advised to replace the set.
No effort ws made to convince me that they were touting for the work as they were very happy to show me where and how they were secured and potentially what was involved in their replacement,so on face value they seemed to know their stuff.

Its all very well having the equipment, but if you don't know how to use it..... ;)

It has been proved time and time again that with the amount of camber you have will cause extreme, premature inner shoulder wear.

Being 'green' on the machine quite simply isn't enough - any monkey could achieve that.
