whats the actual fault on yours ? brushes or solenoid ?
id be inclined to repair the original . better chance of it bring more reliable than an aftermarket or recon and you woudnt know the history of a scrappy one !

Agreed. many many years ago I bought a recon alternator for my Cortina (it was THAT long ago) .... I think they'd just painted it!

I’d defy anything to go around a corner or roundabout as quick as a Mini, they are like a go kart.  :y ;D  .....

My Smart Roadster would keep up  :y It just grips & grips around corners  :)

I passed my car test 2nd Aug 1979 & my bike test Nov 1980  :y :y
Passed bike test in 1962, 3  attempts  :-[ . Car was in 1966, first time thanks to my late Dad. Drove a Reliant on my bike licence and the gearbox was similar
to his HA Viva so just a few drive arounds needed.

That was the year I was born  ::) ;D ;D

I bought an OE starter from Mercedes when I needed one for my Smart due to it being such a tw4t to fit. Had it been easier to replace I might have considered a pattern part!

No more or less than it ever did. Just because something is expensive does not mean it's worth buying. And that's true for whatever metric you use for value.

apart from the brand leader of baked beans  ::) ::)

Phoned Tesco to cancel, didn't even try to ask why, or offer a different price.

presumably loads on a continuous renewal so they don't need to be competitive  ::)

SWMBO has a 60 plate C3 Citroen 1600 petrol that has what I've been led to believe is a Mini engine. If it's the same, the water pump is only part time drive by the 'fan belt'. Never had any over heating issues though Citroen did a mod on the temp sensor because the car THOUGHT they were overheating & lit the dash up like a Christmas tree when it did. (doesn't have a temp gauge so who would know until it was too late?  ::))

I was in Pompey on Whale Island at the time ..... it was silent in the mess when the news was released.
doesn't time fly?
