General Discussion Area / Network switch recommendations
« on: 12 June 2015, 15:29:40 »
My aging 'Pheenet' switch has been in the loft working fine since I got ADSL Many many years ago.

Yesterday, it stopped working, luckily a power cycle sorted it, but as that was the first in 10-15 years im now worried its on borrowed time.

Any recommendations for a basic 8(ish) port switch, given its location needs a decent range of operating temperatures.

Omega General Help / Noisy Heater Fan
« on: 12 March 2015, 12:01:44 »
In the last couple of days, Big blue's Heater fan (the one up behind the glovebox) has gone a bit squealy / whiney for up to 5 mins till the car warms up,   Lowering the fan speed reduces it, changing air direction etc has no effect, so pretty sure its the fan.

Getting to it looks 'fun'

so reluctant to do it more than once.

Anyone got any good silencing tricks, or is it best to get a replacement and go for the swap out.

Im debating a quick squirt of wd40 behind the pollen filter and hoping for a result similar to how it can help on belt squeal.

General Car Chat / Huge thanks to Marks DTM
« on: 09 March 2015, 07:36:27 »
Thank to Mark, for fixing my Zafira...

Sounded like a bag of spanners due to flywheel and clutch needing changing...

Mark offered to fix it, so got it to him, in the cold he stripped it all down, amazing how much needed to come off to get to it, and advised on and fitted the new parts.

He brought it over to me at the weekend...and it is a totally trasformed car, its like new, smoother and quieter than it has ever been, effortless smooth gear changes!

Thanks again, saved me a fortune and totally transformed the car, didnt recognise it on the drive to work this morning!
