Photo of aux water pump mountin when cruise fitted
« on: 14 July 2008, 14:01:54 »

Hope someone is able to oblige here.

I have an '88 3.0L MV6 Auto and am in the process of retro-fitting cruise control.

The bit that has me stumped is the mounting of the auxilliary water pump as fitted to models with AirCon.  The current bracket for it bolts onto where the cruise actuator goes and won't fit once the cruise unit is in.

I can see on EPC that there is an alternative mounting that just has the rubber sleeve with studs sticking out of it but I can't see where that would fit on either.

I'm sure it'll all make perfect sense once you see where everything should go, so if anyone with cruise and AC can take a couple of snaps of this area then I'd be very grateful.

I just hope it doesn't need different hoses 'cos I've not long changed the coolant.

Cheers.

Thats a very early car you have there!

On my MV6, it also has that extra pump, sure Mark just attached that to one of the mounting hole on the cruise unit when he fitted it.

I'll try and get a photo later

Thats what I did. IIRC (and it was over 4yrs ago) I drilled another hole to hold it firmer as well

Correct

I did flatten the dog leg in the bracket out a bit so the pipes didn't foul the engine and then placed some re-enforcement around one of the cooler pipes to protect it from the cruise cable

Would be great  ;)

If the norm is to piggy-back it onto the cruise unit shield then I'll just go with that, I presume the heat from the exhaust manifold doesn't seem to upset it.

Cheers

I'll be copying the install anyway if I win another cheap cruise unit for her car  :y
