TACHOMETER MILES TO KM?
« on: 15 May 2013, 09:28:02 »

Hello,
Is there any chance to convert tachometer counter from miles to km? :o
Mine was originally km but, since it was failed, I replaced it with a miles counter one which I have bought from "eBay UK".  :D
So, I know I can replace the black surfaced readings with even plasma ones but, I have no idea about what could be done for the mechanical metering counters below the speedometer needle. :-\ Is there any way to program the counters? If yes, how? via Tech2 or anyway? ;)
Thank you for your interest in advance... :y

That can only be done via Tech2.

Sorry pic is in Dutch. ;D

Thanks Vega. :y
You mean that even the mechanical counter below the speedometer needle can be programmed and converted to km via Tech2 as it is doable for the board computer? :-\ :o

well instument panels do have a config code, so guess tech2'ing the 'wrong code' would give what you want, no  idea if there would be other effects though

I'd better try the Service for Tech 2 operation to see if it is doable on the counter... ;)

The technician says that it is impossible. :-\ :(
In my opinion, since an electrical circuit exists in the back of the instrument cluster (mine is blue circuit), maybe an IC there could be programmed via Tech2 so that mentioned IC will be able to recognise the distance signal coming from the transmission and read as km instead of miles, and finally converts the data to km for the counter to read km...  :-\ ???
Or... :D The thread distance on the yellow colored worm gear placed in the counter group is turning slowly per distance and reading miles directly just because of this thread distance... :-\ It's more likely an engineering work, I guess...
If it's like that, seems there is no other sorting other than replacing the whole cluster with a km one... :'( :(
