Nice setup.. Got nothing like that here, they don't understand that I actually need to spend money on disaster recovery here, they think that my windows NT backup is enough, even though it can't even back up open files

If line is your connection, then your modem (if its seperate) - modem power supply?  Failing that blame BT/ some other carrier you use..

Nope, network connection fine, hence the Line Up time of 281 days (is that a DSL record?).  So most definatively not able to blame Zen Internet....

Alas, not hot plug, so would need forum outage to replace (not strictly true, as there is a 2nd card installed for such an eventuallity, but still need to rejig VM plumbing, so VM may have to go down).

Correct.  My lovely gigabit switch has decided that it has worked way too hard for the past 4 years, and that enough was enough

Yes, I was being stupid there - read that as a total uptime forever, rather than been up this long so far..

You are creditting me with too much ability there.  Take switches so much for granted, that don't have a spare.  Did have a recovery plan when forum initially migrated here (after hosting company screwed us), but subsequent network changes means that is no longer valid.

What I am good at is quick bodges though
