2003 Facelift tin worm shocker!
« on: 06 January 2010, 21:19:11 »

Had a shocker today, noticed my '53 Facelift has got rust bubbles just starting to appear on both rear wheel arches, just above end of rear bumper. Cleared a bit of crud from inside lip of wheel arch but not excessive. Gutted really as rest of car is in good shape. Went straight out to check the Elite and although a year older it seems fine. has anybody else got this on a facelift.

Arches are fine on mine, slight spot of rust on the bottom corner edge of the rear door.

Not bad for 10 years old....

Only wish I'd noticed before the corrosion warranty ran out.  >:(
Don't know whether to go to the main stealer and see what they say! My mates '91 toyota hasn't got a bit of rust in sight. Such a shame to have to get rid of rust on a car less than 7 years old. :'(

2001 MV6Wagon.
Bubbles on rear doors rear edges (you know where I mean, I'm sure!) and spot on roof.
Will be sorted in the spring, hopefully!

2000 Elite wagon.
bigger bubbles on doors - about through in one spot - and rear arches starting to go.
Might end up breaking that one! (It has other issues..........)

What's the best course of action. seems a shame to repaint a panel just to sort a v.small area, approx 1.5cm visible.
Just don't want it to get worse.

A good bodyshop could do both arches for around £240 depending how bad they are obviously

my 52 plate is very poor round the arches where the rear door closes onto it. >:(
couple of spots bubbling up on the rear doors and 2 on the roof iirc, spots i intend to deal with myself in the summer and i may get the arches done.

What really buggs me is the 99 pre face i had previos was mint, not a spot of rust anywhere. so i didnt really worry too much about rust when buying this one, was a shock when i got it home and cleaned it and saw the arches.
