Cabin/pollen filter
« on: 27 December 2009, 18:03:54 »

Hi,

No doubt this has been discussed before but I'm wondering what the consensus of opinion is.

I was checking the car over today & noticed that mine is overdue a change.

I seem to remember someone saying that it's not worth putting a carbon one in a pre-facelift & I'm just wondering if it's worth the extra?

Cheers.

No massive gains to be honest as there is no air quality sensor on pre-facelift

As others have said, not worth it, use the cheaper one on prefacelifts.

Facelifts NEED the carbon ones.

My facelift had one done by the garage that I bought it from-it is a flimsy papery thing....is this wrong?
I notice the fumes from other cars etc a lot.

It's an easy job, but how much for the carbon filter?

Dead, easy.... about the easiest job of all. Scuttle flap passenger side, the drain should be clear, filter simply clicks in place (2 locks either side) its around £15 from a dealer

Typed four identical replies-each lost by this sodding Polish laptop and dodgy connection   :(

Will do carbon filter on return home-wondered why air so poor in cabin!

Not surprised the garage took the cheapest, worst route-one of many bodges I have had to correct.

not being a chap versed in facelift air filters, what do they look like? Being Carbon does that mean theyre black, or something?

More like dark grey, compared to the earlier white ones

I use the carbon myself...for the sake of £6 every 2 years..

it may improve air slightly...

Yep. It's not just the air quality sensor that sees better filtered air - it's the occupants of the car too. :y

Just swapped the incorrect white paper one for a Donkermann carbon one this morning in Poland at a cost of 50PLN/10GBP, noticably better fit, dark grey filter with decent rubber edge seals, fits airtight and very tightly.

Much better and worth the tenner  :y

Mrs. KW has asked why there's no air quality sensor fitted to the driver's seat - and linked to the leccy windows. Would save a valuable few seconds. :-[
