Whats in your boot
« on: 09 May 2007, 11:26:48 »

Just opened my boot to get my locking wheel nut kit.....

and i currently have:

A garden table
A mini fridge  :o
A huge union jack brolley
A 1/12 scale half built boxed tamiya Impreza petrol driven remote control car.
and a thermostat from a rover......

No tools though - is that shoddy or complete faith in my omega  ;D

 - A gallon drum of screenwash because my screenwash reservoir has a leak and I have to top it up every few hours on long journeys.
 - A large bottle of oil because my cars eats it like it is petrol.
 - A large bottle of water, for two reasons.  One, to dilute concentrated screenwash if needed. Two, just in case it overheats.  I have had the car 6 months and it hasn't yet, but with everything else on it going wrong, i expect it will do soon.
 - The lock assembly for the boot, because it keeps falling out.
 - Bits of the rear wiper, which gave up a while back and I cannot seem to get around to fixing.
 - Part of the passenger door lining which fell off.

And, because my current car is a Punto, the boot is just about full.

I wish it would do the decent thing and stop working altogether.......

......damned thing even passed its MOT a few weeks ago. That was going to be my exucse for buying an Omega.  Now I need another one.

in a saloon or estate?

I think 3 average size males would fit in my saloon fine, i felt it was adequately spaced when someone locked me in mine and sat on it so i couldn't get out, i had a plate of food with me so all wasn't so bad!

In my boot i have a high vis jacket, wheel brace, jack, car-vac, spare bulbs for all round, spare number plates, spare wheel, vx jack, postie bag, postie jacket, towel, pair of trainers (and socks), toilet roll (trust me its handy!!) and a bottle of water!

Regarding the MPG quote, here is food for thought. Over the holiday period i decided to empty the back of the meega, mainly to try and find something that was lost......it wasnt there and still hasn't been found ::) Anyway after removing five tool boxes, tool bag, a box of plumbing fittings, three rolls of cable and a box of electrical fittings and various other paraphernalia, i decided i quite like the look of an empty boot and am trying hard to keep it this way especially as my fuel consumption has risen from 21.8MPG to 24.6mpg, and this is using the same route to and from work as i have always done. I would never have believed it if someone had have said that this was possible but the proof is there. So it may be time for everyone who carries needless items around to have a bit of a sort out.
Cheers, Jez.

Now, I have seen in your boot mate and it is second only to James for stuff!

having said that, I just looked in the corsa boot and found:

1 x driving school roof box
2 x driving school side panels (magnetic)
6 x L plates
2 x P plates
5 x colour video cameras
1 x CDR2005 Radio/cd
1 x complete set ofg new Omega v6 rocker gaskets
1 x stanley knife
3 rolls insulating tape
1 x pliers
1 x side cutters
1 x gas soldering iron
1 x 240v invertor
1 x fag lighter extension
14x various screws
1 x receipt from Reg Vardys
1 x used mars bar wrapper
1 x human hand.  :o Oh, that turned out to be mine. phew.

Not bad for a small corsa. Now, where is the wife's Omega estate......

Golf bats....

Why????
Good a place as anywhere.  Seeing as I have a bigger boot ;)

Golf!!!!

I didn't think you were old enough :D
As you know, working with 'puters does tend to mean little exercise.

Seeing as gyms are mind numbingly boring, I would rather be out in the fresh air, enjoying the company of friends, taking gentle exercise in a (usually) country setting...

I am wary of push bikes around my way, roads not really safe enough imho.  Golf is cheap enough - no longer the toffee nosed public schoolboy thing.  Under a tenner a round in Milton Keynes, pay and play.

Whilst I wouldn't go so far to call it a hobby like it is to some, we can always make time for what we enjoy - be it an evening out with mates, or videoing trains...  ;)

Two warning triangles. Gloves, Loppers, Chain saw, petrol, chain oil, spare sharpened chain, big bottle of cold water. It is 34 Deg C and it is olive tree pruning time. The warning triangles are always there as they are required by law along with reflective jackets for anyone who gets out of their car at the side of the road.

No the only torture is the heat. 34 Deg C today. Now I know why the Spanish have a siesta. Start work early and then work again in the evening. One thing they are not is lazy!

A small cardboard box.
No idea what it contains (well, I know there's a picnic rug there somewhere) and some other 'stuff'.

Tucked away there are a few other bits and pieces *but nothing blocking my vents*, a first aid kit(!), some fuses (from owning another car) - no triangle! (thieving b..ds).

But generally my boot is a 'clear zone', ready and waiting as it were.

But how would I really know what's in my car boot - I don't even know where the car is half the time.

A Toilet

Is this standard fit with the Elite or some special trim option for long distance reps?
