Since driving my 2001 2.6 V6 in the Snow and slush a couple of weeks ago the warning Light for Traction Control and Electronic Control are both permanently on. Also occasionally the indicator lights for the gear selector will all light up.Are these different problems or all connected? I have hosed the wheels as I thought the TC sensors were covered in muck and salt,the problem did go away for a day but is now back! Any ideas and suggestions would be greatly appreciated as the car seems to be stuck in the wrong gear and is drinking Petrol!! Thank you

The first thing I would do would be to clean the selector mechanism ...

It sounds like the "system" is unsure which gear its actually in ....

Driving on ice/slush/mud when the wheels all go at different speeds can upset the abs/tc .. but it usually sorts itself out after 5 minutes "normal" driving ... I've not had the selector lights flashing in conjunction ...

Sounds like 2 different issues to me... Selector switch as above for the gear indicator lights

As for the ABS/TC lighting up... You need to get it on a decent code reader to find out what it's unhappy with but it does sound like it may be a wheel sensor

As others say, clean up the selector switch (passenger side of gearbox, towards the front), and check all wheel sensors, paying attention to any brackets that may have dislodged in the ice.

Thank you everybody for your advice. I have now found that before starting the engine,I press the footbrake down and put the selector into neutral then I start the car everything is fine with no warning lights on display and drives perfectly.This says there is a problem with the selector indicator mechanism and as soon as time and weather allows I will be crawling underneath to find out exactly what the culprit is. Thank you....
